Paid Survey Tips

I have been quietly earning a regular income online with paid surveys for around 3 years now and during that time I’ve gained a lot of experience. Now dont get me wrong, it took me a long time to get my head around it. In fact, I was on the ‘sidelines’ for the first few months – my logic was to ‘read about it more, do more research and then find the right companies’. All good advice for when you’re asked to make a purchase of some sort, but for joining a FREE survey company and filling out surveys for cash – a little too much ‘analysis’ in my view.

In my time in the ‘Paid Surveys’ scene, therefore, I have picked up a lot of tips, tricks and knowledge that I would thus like to share with you here on this page. Some of these tips you may have read elsewhere (either within my blog or externally) but that just means they are extra important. Without further ado, here are my

Top 10 Paid Survey Tips:

1. Set up a dedicated e-mail address for your paid survey accounts.

I wish I’d done this when I first started out! I began by using my personal e-mail account for joining survey companies, and soon after I was getting confused with all the different sorts of e-mails I was receiving; it proved annoyingly difficult to separate personal e-mails from business ones. I would therefore advice you to take heed of this advice.

2. Beware of survey sites that ask for TOO much information.

This may sound a bit odd, but some unscrupulous sites only exist to min personal information and sell it on; some sites are just scams. So if a survey company asks for your bank details as part of the signup process then be very wary and DO NOT join. All reputable companies merely require basic personal information, e.g. name, e-mail, address etc.

3. Look for ‘reputation indicators’.

Again, be wary when you’re joining survey companies and look for any reputation indicators, i.e. those that have authentications. For example, good companies will be approved by bodies such as Better Business Bureau (BBB). For further advice, read my post on Legitimate Paid Surveys.

4. Only join survey companies that have an adequate Privacy Policy.

This may come as standard advice, but any half decent website on the Internet will have an up to date privacy policy; that is common law. This is especially relevant with paid survey companies due to the fact that you’ll be disclosing private information (through completing surveys) and will therefore need to be ensured that this information will be kept confidential.

5. Take surveys as soon as you receive them.

When starting out you want to build up your profile with the survey companies that you signed up for. This can be done by completing surveys as soon as you receive them. This indicates that you are ‘active’ and the survey companies will therefore send you more time sensitive offers.

6. Establish your reliability.

This follows on from the paid survey tip above. As well as completing surveys in a speedy manner, there are other ways you can establish and increase your reliability. For example, when you are starting out, fill out lowly (mediocre) surveys so that you can be seen as reliable and hence get more ‘lucrative’ offers.

7. Be Honest

When completing surveys for cash, try to be honest in your answers. This will build up your credability and will benefit you in the long term. If you understand the root of the paid surveys industry: market research companies want your opinion and are willing to pay for it – so if you give false information, do you think they’ll keep paying in the long term?

8. Bookmark important survey sites

This piece of advice is a more on organisation. When you join more and more survey companies, it becomes harder to remember all the site names and URLs. It would therefore be easier for you to bookmark the sites and organise them under a NEW folder in your bookmarks.

9. Use Automation software

When you get the swing of things, you will realise that there is a lot of repetiveness; you will be inputting a lot of the same information, e.g. name, e-mail, age etc. One key advice would be automate this process as much as possible and there are a lot of tools out there. Some of these tools are free, but I recommend using a neat software called RoboForm – you can literally fill web forms with one click with this handy piece of software.

10. Build your own database

This last tip is for those long term planners. In time, you will join and gain experience from a list of survey companies and you can then start compiling a database of these companies. You will then have the luxury of choosing which companies to work with, e.g. those that pay fast, most frequent offers, best quality offers etc.

That concludes the list of top 10 paid survey tips. One final point about payments: some companies have diferent payout options (check, bank transfer, paypal). So that you can have this choice, make sure you have a PayPal Account (click here to open one)

This list is not conclusive and I may add to it from time to time. Please feel free to contact me or leave a comment, if you think I’ve missed something or would like to add to this page.
